I have experience of providing counselling to gay men, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, members of the Kink/BDSM community and clients of other sexuality and gender minorities including those who are questioning their gender or sexual diversity. I identify as a demi-sexual gay man.
I am listed in Pink Therapy | gender sex & relationship diversities An online directory of therapists of all sexualities and gender identities who work with gender and sexual diversity clients from an non-judgmental standpoint. It is acknowledged that sexual/relationship diversity training in most training courses is extremely limited. My professional training included a large piece of experiential sexuality training during which I had to explore and talk about my own sexuality. Consequently, I know that it is not a topic that some people including therapists are not used to or comfortable talking about. I hope that you will feel comfortable enough to do so with me if that is what you want. In 2013 I was the guest speaker at a professional development event for the Scottish Association for Psychodynamic Counselling the title of which was Working with Clients of Gender and Sexual Diversity. As the field of gender and sexual identity expands I continue to expand my own knowledge of the topic and take part in many days of continued professional development.
